Future technology marks company’s 150th anniversary: Geneva sewage disposal specialist opts for EV

Guimet Fils SA chose a special present on the occasion of their 150th anniversary. The Geneva-based experts in sewage disposal recently put a Kaiser sewer cleaning EV with water recycling technology into service. That makes Guimet the industry’s first company worldwide to use an electrically powered vehicle for sewer cleaning in combination with water recycling.

“Our company history has always shown that it’s important to move with the times. Electromobility is not a short-term trend; it’s set to shape the future of our industry. That’s why I’m especially pleased that we’re a trailblazer here with the Kaiser AquaStar EV,” says Guimet CEO Sylvain Roch.

While sewer cleaning with water recycling requires a lot of energy, this technology is also environmentally friendly and saves large amounts of drinking water. This is where conventional electric trucks rapidly hit their capacity limits. “Kaiser’s concept in collaboration with EV manufacturer Designwerk persuaded us. The AquaStar EV is very high-powered. That means that we can work in the same way as with a conventional diesel-fueled vehicle. The battery is sufficient for a full day’s work without recharging,” says Sylvain Roch.
